charter yacht Big City

International Yacht Collection has just announced 20-percent discounts on three major motoryachts in its charter fleet, in yet another sign that the summer charter season continues to be slow for even the strongest companies with the most sought-after boats.

Case in point No. 1 is the 141-foot Trinity Big City, a brand-new beauty that we featured here on CharterWave just last month in this First Impression review. In years past, a new build of this caliber would have been all but booked solid for the Mediterranean before even arriving in France or Italy. Not in this economy. Today's late date is July 1, and the 20-percent discount is being offered to try to drum up business. The new weekly base rate is €140,000 for 10 guests with nine crew.

Case in point No. 2 is the 147-foot Izar Tuscan Sun, which, as we reported in this First Impression review, has had a good charter reputation since she first became available in 2006. As with brand-new builds such as Big City, popular charter yachts with strong reputations and a repeat client base tend to be booked well before the summer season even begins. Apparently, the Bahamas market remains weak as well. That's where Tuscan Sun is located right now, and where the weekly base rate has been dropped to $188,000 for 12 guests with nine crew.

Case in point No. 3 is the 161-foot Trinity Lohengrin, whose owner was serious about trying to find charter business as far back as seven months ago, as I reported in this First Impression review. It seems his seriousness has reached new levels, with the yacht now being offered in the Mediterranean at a reduced weekly base rate of $220,000 for 10 guests with nine crew.

These three boats are high-quality charter yachts boasting top-of-the-line amenities such as zero-speed stabilizers, WiFi access, and 32-foot Intrepid tenders for day excursions and fishing. Deep, published discounts were virtually unheard of aboard charter yachts of this caliber even last summer, after the global economy had already started to crash.

To take advantage of these newly announced offers in the Mediterranean and Bahamas, contact any reputable charter broker.
