Ocean Alliance has welcomed the 112-foot Alloy motoryacht Akiko to the charter fleet in Australia and the South Pacific.
Formerly known as VvS1, a charter yacht that I was aboard (and loved) in Fiji, Akiko is a 2007 build that recently got new owners. They took the yacht to the McMullen and Wing shipyard in New Zealand for a refit and are now returning her to the charter market.
The plan for Akiko—whose name means “at a distance from home” in Maiori—is to put her expedition styling to good use by chartering in the rugged Kimberley and Coral Coast on Australia’s western side from May through September, after which the yacht will relocate to Perth and the Montebello Islands from October until December. Akiko will then head to Southeast Asia and the islands of the South Pacific starting in February 2018.
Akiko accommodates as many as nine guests in four staterooms. Her lowest weekly base rate is $115,000.
