A Real Knockout

I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of charter yachts at this week’s Miami International Boat Show, and one in particular is the new 157-foot motoryacht Marathon, shown here:

What interests me about Marathon is that even though she’s a brand-new build that just completed her first charter last month, she already has nine weeks (nine weeks!) of charter booked on her calendar through this coming August, according to management company Fraser Yachts Worldwide. That’s more bookings than a lot of existing, well-known charter yachts have on their calendars right now. One client apparently chose Marathon simply because the yacht’s owner keeps a set of boxing gear onboard–an unusual amenity, for sure.

This yacht’s schedule is even more impressive to me considering that this week’s Miami event will be the first boat show that Marathon has attended, and thus the first opportunity for charter brokers to step onboard and take a look around. There must be something very right about Marathon’s crew and owner, something you’d never know just by looking at boat brochures.

Like I said, I’m looking forward to seeing for myself when I get onboard and interview Marathon’s crew later this week. Look for my personal take on this crewed charter yacht soon in the First Impressions section of CharterWave, and contact any reputable charter broker if you’re interested in booking a charter onboard.

True to my word, I made a point of following up with management company Fraser Yachts Worldwide and giving Marathon a look at last week’s Miami boat show–to try to determine exactly what all the fuss is about.
