Cruise Ship Victims Speak Out

If you’re a regular reader of my blog here at CharterWave, then you see me post at least a few times a month about problems onboard cruise ships. I highlight serious issues like disease outbreaks and crimes against passengers as continuing evidence that yachts are simply a safer vacation choice than cruise ships.

cruise-victims-logo.gifNow, I’ve discovered a group that is formalizing the kinds of random thoughts I’ve been putting online here. It’s called International Cruise Victims. Its mission is to pool victims’ stories so that it can work in a class-action fashion to get some relief for victimized passengers, as well as to keep reliable data to compare against the cruise companies’ sunny marketing materials.

That so many former vacationers even feel the need to create a website like this should give anyone considering a cruise-ship vacation pause. So should the names of the three main categories the site covers: “illness and injury,” “sexual assaults,” and “missing passengers and deaths.”

The cruise ship industry would have us all believe that such acts are random occurrences. The compilations you’ll see on this website make clear that they are not.

You won’t find a website like this dedicated to the yacht charter industry, since there simply aren’t massive groups of former charter guests out there in the world who have been sickened, robbed or raped.

That’s not a small thing to keep in mind when planning your family’s next vacation.
