Welcome New Sponsor: BoatBookings.com

You may have noticed during the past few days that CharterWave has welcomed a featured home page sponsor: Boatbookings.com.

I couldn’t be more excited about this partnership. To tell you the truth, I’ve had several offers since CharterWave first went online from “companies” seeking to be on our home page, but I turned them all down because they weren’t much more than websites without proper yacht charter agencies or professionals behind them. They were just people looking to make a quick buck off readers like you.

So I took a bit of a gamble and made the business decision to hold the featured home page sponsorship open for a company like Boatbookings.com—which has a good reputation, multiple worldwide offices, and in-house brokers like Sharon Bahmer, a member of CYBA International (one of the professional associations that CharterWave trusts).

I believe that waiting for a company like Boatbookings.com was the right decision, both for CharterWave and for you, our readers. CharterWave’s home page gets lots and lots of traffic, and as you know, our goal is to connect readers with reputable companies. A lot of people in my position, I think, would have jumped at the first advertising offers that came along, even if the companies were sketchy. I’m quite proud to have held out for a home page advertiser that I personally would use to book a charter vacation.

It also makes me happy that a company like Boatbookings.com sees CharterWave as a valued online partner. Tom Virden, the director and founder of Boatbookings.com, is not just a sailing aficionado but also is a technology expert, having worked at Apple Computer, Netscape, and for various e-commerce enterprises. I’m just thrilled that he recognizes CharterWave as bringing high-quality charter editorial content to the Web. He’s a guy who knows his stuff.

If you get a chance, please do click on over to the Boatbookings.com website. The more that you help to support the people who support CharterWave, the more resources we’ll have to connect you with even more top-notch companies in the future.
