The pundits say that most new media ventures fail within their first year of operation. Whether it’s a magazine, a newspaper or a website, the majority of new brands go belly-up due to lack of funding, lack of good content, or lack of public interest.

I’m so, so happy to say that CharterWave is not one of them!

That’s right: We’re now officially one year old, having gone online at this time last October. Our content continues to outshine any other publication–online or in print–that covers the charter industry. Our traffic continues to grow every single month. Our readers are contacting brokers and booking charters with greater and greater frequency.

And our funding is allowing us not just to stay alive, but also to continue to improve. As I wrote in this month’s edition of CharterWave eNews, we’re celebrating our first year online by adding new features and honing our focus even further.

Moving ahead, we’re going to cover only crewed yachts, which is what more than 90 percent of our readers want. We’re also adding audio and video links to make multimedia a part of your yacht charter research options. And last but not least, we’re adding even more of a presence for our sponsors, who are signing on faster than ever to help us continue our growth.

Thanks to all of you who come back to the blog regularly, who tell your friends about us, and who use the information we give you to book the vacations of your dreams. I look forward to seeing you right here at this time next year, when we’re all but certain to be celebrating another banner year for CharterWave!
