The Ultimate Charter Garage

I know that “garage” isn’t the first place you think about when trying to decide whether one charter yacht is better than the next. You’re looking at the sundeck, the size of the hot tub, the location of the super-size plasma with surround-sound… Believe me, I know.

But sometimes, the design of a place like a yacht’s garage has a direct impact on your time aboard. To that end, I want to show you this garage that I saw at the recent Antigua charter yacht show. It’s from onboard the motoryacht Emerald Star, which is the first in a series of 43-meter boats from European builder CRN.

The designers created a garage up near the bow (the front of the yacht) for stowing one of the big tenders–which means that, unlike onboard other yachts in this size range, Emerald Star’s tender is out of sight instead of taking up valuable guest relaxation space on deck.

There are two benefits to this design. One: The crew can access their tender without disturbing you during your midday nap. Two: You have more space on deck to take your midday nap.

The whole thing works at the push of a button. Check this out:

Pretty nifty, eh?
