Yachts vs. Cruise Ships: The Environment
We have a new Special Report posted on the CharterWave this month. It’s called Cruise Ships versus Charter Yachts: The Environmental Impact.
I’ve long suspected that chartering yachts is a more environmentally friendly way to cruise than boarding a huge ship, but I’ve never taken the time to crunch the numbers. And I’ve never seen them crunched anywhere else in a direct comparison of yachts versus cruise ships.
Hence our new Special Report, which examines data on everything from sewage holding capacity to carbon dioxide emissions. I looked at the numbers both overall as well as per-passenger, and in all cases, charter yachts ended up being the “greener” cruising option–sometimes by a significant margin.
