BHC Charters Struck from Reputable List
If you are a close reader of the reputable charter brokers page here on CharterWave, then you will notice a deletion. Yesterday afternoon, I deleted the company BHC Yacht Charters & Sales and its broker Andrew Buys. It is the first time I have removed a broker from our reputable brokers list since CharterWave’s inception in October 2006.
I made the decision after answering a few general questions sent to me by a CharterWave reader about a $50,000-plus charter that she had booked through Mr. Buys. While I believe Mr. Buys did everything he was legally responsible to do as this reader’s broker, and while I am aware that Mr. Buys is a member of the professional organization FYBA, which we support here on CharterWave, I feel that Mr. Buys was both unprofessional and disrespectful in the way he spoke to me by telephone and by e-mail after I answered this reader’s general questions.
I cannot in good conscience recommend a broker here on CharterWave who treats me in this manner. It has been my experience in covering the charter industry for nearly a decade that when someone–be it a broker, a captain, or a yacht owner– is rude or dismissive toward a public journalist multiple times, that person can have a tendency to act even worse toward clients in private. I am not willing to take the chance of that happening with CharterWave readers in this case.
For this reason, Andrew Buys and BHC Yacht Charters & Sales will no longer appear on the CharterWave reputable brokers list.

Wrong! I don’t know what cause this friction between you and BHC but I can assure you that after dealing with Andrew and BHC for the past 10 years - BHC staff and especially Andrew are the most helpful down-to-earth, non pretentious (like some people) group of people I ever met in the industry.
