Ocean Independence Buys Cavendish White
Ocean Independence has acquired British-based Cavendish White, creating what an Ocean Independence press release says is now the second-largest fleet of charter yachts in the world.

The deal apparently was finalized last Thursday, but the companies waited to announce it publicly until all the affected yacht owners had been notified.
I just got off the phone with Ocean Independence’s USA Charter Director, Ray Weldon, who is based in Fort Lauderdale. He told me they believe the newly merged company is second only to Burgess Yachts in the number of charter yachts it will now control. However, he could not tell me how many charter yachts will be in the newly combined fleet, so it’s impossible for me to verify that assertion. His best guess was somewhere in the neighborhood of 80. I’m seeking more information.
Ocean Independence will now have at least a dozen retail charter brokers taking vacation bookings around the globe, Weldon told me. The press release indicates that creating an increased presence in the United States is one of the merger’s goals.
The newly merged company will be based in Zurich, one of 12 worldwide offices that range from the Monaco to Dubai. For more information, go to the Ocean Independence website.
