charter yacht Mrs. WhiteFirst Impression: Mrs. White

Date toured: May 2009

The 98-foot motoryacht Mrs. White made such an impression on me at the industry-only Genoa charter yacht show that I posted this item about her to the CharterWave Daily Editor’s Blog within a few days of my tour. Her master cabin shower is outfitted for chromotherapy—a method of alternative medicine that is said to help balance physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional energy wherever they are out of balance in the body. I’ve not, to this day, ever seen anything like it aboard any other charter yacht.
Mrs. White herself was built by Benetti Sail Division earlier this year for the same owner that used to own a 78-foot charter yacht called Mr. White. It’s now sold, and four of its five crew mecharter yacht Mrs. White water tapsmbers are working aboard the new yacht. All are in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, and see charter as their profession as opposed to a summer hobby.
“Our captain followed the construction of this boat,” stewardess Dijana Keser told me. “Everything we all wanted to change from the previous boat, we were able to change. The chef, for instance, had a special water system in his restaurant onshore, and we have it here on the boat now.”
That system, like the chromotherapy shower, is something I haven’t seen on any other charter yacht. It includes multiple watermakers that serve up a constant stream of natural, gas, and chilled waters through taps like the ones you usually see providing beer at a bar (see the photograph at right). Because of the taps, charter guests can enjoy their water in glasses. That means no plastic bottles—and less environmental impact.
Mrs. White takes 10 guests in four cabins, assuming you use the two bunk-style Pullman berths that are in the cabins with twin beds. Each cabin has WiFi access, an iPod docking station, and an individual receiver for the yacht’s satellite television system (that means you can watch one channel while other channels play on other televisions aboard).
The yacht is expected to be based in Italy, near Rome, during summers, and will charter in the Caribbean during winters. The lowest weekly base rate is €60,000. Primo Yacht is the management company, and any reputable charter broker can help you book a week onboard.—Kim Kavin
