Gocek, Turkey

Gocek, Turkey, which sits at the head of Gocek Bay, is a great location to embark on a Gulet charter, mega yacht charter or sailing yacht charter for a yachting holiday in Turkey.  Spend time after embarking in Gocek, exploring Gocek Bay (technically Fethiye Gulf, but the area is referred to by the yachting world as Gocek Bay), as there so much to see and do.  Whether spending time in the Twelve Islands, snorkeling the ruins of “Cleopatra’s Baths”, anchored in Tomb Bay under the Cliffside Lycian Tombs, or anchored in Wall Bay next to a Roman built wall, Gocek Bay is a great location to explore on a Gocek yacht charter.

Cleopatra’s Baths

Anchoring at the ruin of “Cleopatra’s Baths” in Manastir Bay, is one of the most well-known anchorages in Gocek Bay, and is an absolutely gorgeous location, offering the rare opportunity to snorkel and swim through ancient Roman Bath ruins. While this Roman Bath was probably not originally built for Cleopatra, as legend states, this is still a great location, with Roman Bath ruins set in crystal clear blue green waters, in an anchorage ringed with pine trees, which is an excellent photo opportunity.  Close by “Cleopatra’s Baths” is Wall Bay, where a wall built by the Romans for defense, and still standing, can be seen running almost down to the shoreline.  And also nearby is Tomb Bay, where Lycian Tombs can be easily seen carved out of the cliff side; a great location to anchor for a top deck dinner under the stars and under these ancient tombs. Tersane Adasi Island has nice Byzantine ruins of a small settlement ringing this quiet little island harbor, which is also a lovely location for swimming.

There are Twelve Islands in Gocek Bay, some with private villas that can be seen on the shoreline, others that are inhabited only by wild goats and rabbits, however a number of the islands have lovely beaches to enjoy, in virtual solitude, as these beaches can only be reached by private yacht. Have a beach picnic on your “own” beach, and splash in the warm shallow waters of Gocek Bay lapping the beach, when exploring this myriad of beautiful anchorages in Gocek Bay after embarking on a luxury yacht charter in Gocek, Turkey.
