charter yacht broker Jennifer ThomsonCharter broker, Sea-Alliance Group

Date interviewed: July 2011

I first saw the Sea-Alliance Group logo at the 2011 MYBA charter show in Italy. Is the company brand-new?

Sea-Alliance Group is about 11 years old, but our charter division is new.

The company started in Israel as an amalgamation of a yacht management company and a yacht brokerage company. They formed an international arm about four years ago and called it Sea-Alliance Group. It now has management, brokerage, marina management, and project management for new builds. And, in 2010, we started the charter division of Sea-Alliance Group.

Have you been with the company from the start?

I have been with the charter division from the start. I came onboard in early 2010. Charter really is my baby.

What experience do you bring to the new charter division?

I’m from Manchester, England, and I have degrees in international business and French. I moved to the South of France about six years ago to work for a media company, and I came into contact with yachting companies all the time because they are such a big part of the economy in the South of France. I went to work for Hill Robinson for several years, and then I joined Sea-Alliance Group.

Does the Sea-Alliance Group do charter yacht management?

Yes. We have five boats in our charter fleet right now. We usually are involved in the construction of the yachts as well as hiring the crew, so we know the charter programs really well. That distinguishes us from a lot of other companies.

For instance, in Israel, Sea-Alliance Group is also a dealer for the Sunseeker shipyard. So we have a couple of Sunseekers in our charter fleet. We helped the owners purchase the boats, and now we manage the boats for them. An example is the 110-foot Sunseeker Black and White, which we represent for charter. She got very good reviews at the 2011 charter show in Italy.

How about retail charter bookings?

Yes, we also do retail charter, which means that we book charters for clients aboard our own boats as well as on boats from other fleets. We’re always looking for new retail clients as well as new central agent clients. We can book most charter yachts worldwide.

How can CharterWave readers contact you?

I travel regularly, so the best way to reach me is by sending an e-mail through the Sea-Alliance Group website.
