10 Best Charter Yachts for Movie Lovers PDF Print E-mail

Charter broker Missy Johnston of Northrop & Johnson Worldwide Yacht Charters says: “Onboard Xanadu, the 197-foot Benetti motoryacht, is a full state-of-the-art A/V system with Apple TV movies on demand, based on iTunes. With multiple flat-screen TVs and a large screen for movie viewing in the sun lounge, there is no end to the viewing possibilities. If nothing of interest can be found on Apple TV, Xanadu also has full Sky and US satellite TV throughout the yacht.  On the sundeck, Xanadu has the most interesting television screen I have ever seen. It can be watched from the front or back at the same time. The screen appears between the large Jacuzzi and sunpad, and whether you are forward or aft, you can still see what is on the screen. One group may see reverse subtitles on a subtitled movie, but those sitting on the other side can clue them in.”

The team at CSO Yachts says: “The state-of-the-art A/V equipment on the 241-foot motoryacht Siren will fulfill any movie lover’s dream. The outside cinema is just fantastic. Picture yourself at anchor watching a movie with the moonlight...”

“In a more accessible price range,” CSO says, “we would recommend the 82-foot motoryacht Soja, which sleeps eight and possibly two children. Soja is equipped with the latest A/V technologies, including a Loewe TV with amazing image resolution in the main salon and fitted with a great home cinema system. Additionally, all cabins have their own flat-screen TVs and Bose home cinemas.

The team at Churchill Yacht Partners recommends the 154-foot Perini Navi sailing yacht Andromeda la Dea: “She features a 50-inch plasma screen in the main salon, and professional, theater-quality surround sound. Too bad for those who don't want to watch the movie, because the whole boat vibrates when you turn up the volume!”

Edmiston & Company has two recommendations this week. First is the 120-foot Guy Couach motoryacht Sheleila, which has a dedicated TV lounge with large, flat-screen television and home theater system, situated forward on the main deck.

Also recommended by Edmiston & Company this week is the 111-foot Leopard motoryacht Anita, which has a custom A/V and HiFi system including state-of-the-art equipment from MBL and Avant Garde.

CEO Expeditions notes that its 120-foot motoryacht Kayana boasts “a proprietary, custom, two-gigabyte system with over 300 movies loaded in a separate media center. Think I-Pod for movies, as it’s based on an Apple server.” The yacht’s owner also notes: “Remember, my day job is in computers and software!”

Charter broker Tim Clark at Ocean Independence says discerning movie lovers will adore the famed, 233-foot classic motoryacht Haida G. Not only does she offer movie nights on the top deck under the stars, but she was actually featured in the blockbuster movie “Mamma Mia” starring Meryl Streep.

Charter broker Lisa Cavicchioli, also of Ocean Independence, recommends the 204-foot motoryacht Force Blue, which has a dedicated cinema room onboard.

The Sacks Group Yachting Professionals suggests the 130-foot Trinity motoryacht Miss Michelle, which is equipped with a state-of-the-art Kaleidescape system that supplies hundreds of movies to the TVs in guest staterooms—including the 42-inch, high-definition plasma TV in the master suite, the 50-inch, high-definition TVs in the main salon and sky lounge, and the 52-inch adjustable outdoor TV on the sundeck.
