Charter broker Missy Johnston of Northrop and Johnson Worldwide Yacht Charters has two recommendations this week. First is for her favorite indoor bar, aboard the 97-foot Hargrave motoryacht Hooter Patrol IV: “The large, long indoor bar is in the forward part of the main salon and is so well equipped that Chef Mike Brandt can not only create exotic designer drinks, but can whip up hors d’oeuvres or a first course or light lunch right there while you enjoy sitting at the bar, or even give a cooking lesson with a wine tasting.” Also this week from Johnston comes a recommendation for the 137-foot powercatamaran Seafaris: “She has a large teppanyaki bar on the entertainment deck, just at the edge of the interior sun lounge, opening out onto the deck, where the chef can cook fish, just caught, Japanese-style. Guests can sit on the other side of the bar looking out at the lovely view and sipping cocktails, or relax with the wide-screen TV while their teppanyaki tidbits are being prepared.”
Charter broker and manager Fiona Maureso at Peter Insull’s suggests two yachts with great bars. First is the 192-foot motoryacht Islander: “She wins hands down on both indoor and outdoor bars. On the sundeck is a huge, square bar with 12 bar stools around three sides. The bar top is deep enough to allow guests to eat at the bar. With the barbecue just beside it, this is a popular place at lunchtime. And there is another large bar in the sky lounge, which doubles as a night club.”
Fiona also recommends having a drink aboard the 161-foot Trinity motoryacht Blind Date: “The L-shaped sky lounge bar features gray leather padding and a white marble top, with a large picture window behind. There is also a lovely bar under the mast on the sundeck, with its curves echoing the shape of the Jacuzzi.”
The Sacks Group Yachting Professionals has two recommendations this week. First is the 130-foot Westport motoryacht Miss Michelle, whose sky lounge includes a long, onyx-topped bar with ultra-comfortable seating near a faux fireplace: “It’s the perfect spot for charter guests to relax over a cocktail and compare notes on the day’s adventures.”
Also this week from The Sacks Group comes a recommendation for the bar area aboard the 130-foot Feadship motoryacht Golden Rule, whose interior is done in classic style: “Sitting at the bar makes you think you’re in a 1940s movie!”
The team at Edmiston and Company suggests the 120-foot Guy Couach motoryacht Sheleila, whose minimalist, contemporary interior makes you feel as though your seat at the bar is actually inside a posh nightclub.
Also this week from Edmiston and Company comes a recommendation for the aft-deck bar aboard the 254-foot motoryacht Samar. Like the rest of the yacht, the space boasts a 10-foot ceiling and feels enormous compared with similar spaces aboard other large motoryachts.
Interestingly, broker Natasha Smekalina of Nemo Yachts also recommended Samar this week after seeing the yacht at the Antigua Charter Yacht Show in December: “I was really impressed by the round bar on Samar, with 16 leather and chrome chairs around it. The height of the chairs and counter can be adjusted, and they can also be used for formal dining. It definitely looks very different from all other yachts.” Last this week is a recommendation from Luxury Yacht Group for the 130-foot Broward motoryacht Le Montrachet: “It's an older yacht but it's been very well maintained and the main salon is massive. The bar area features five bar stools surrounding a granite and varnished wood fully equipped bar.”
