charter yacht Pas de Deux crew

I received an e-mail yesterday from Harvey Jenkinson and Tracy Ford, the well-tanned couple in the photograph above. They run the 60-foot sailing catamaran Pas de Deux in the Virgin Islands, where they are gearing up to generate winter charter business by rolling the yacht's weekly rates back to 2007 levels.

The rate for two guests this winter will be $16,500; for three guests, $17,000; for four guests, $17,500; for five guests, $18,500; and for six guests, $19,500.

In addition to working off those reduced weekly rates, Pas de Deux is offering an additional 5-percent discount for charters that end before May 1, 2010. That extra 5 percent discount does not apply to the week of Thanksgiving, when instead the yacht is offering eight nights for the price of seven.

Harvey and Tracy tell me they made several key improvements this past summer aboard Pas de Deux, which was built in 2005. They installed a new backup generator for quiet air conditioning during nights at anchor, and they ordered a new custom tender that should be delivered to the yacht in time for the first charters of the upcoming season.

After this winter, Harvey and Tracy plan to take the owners of Pas de Deux on a six-month cruise around the Mediterranean. No charter dates are expected to become available once that trip is under way in early May, but you should be able to charter Pas de Deux again in the Virgin Islands beginning in mid-December 2010.

Pas de Deux is marketed by CharterPortBVI. Any reputable charter broker can help you take advantage of the newly announced rates.
