With the winter charter season just around the corner in the Caribbean, I thought you all might enjoy a look at one of my favorite yachting destinations: Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua.

Britain's Royal Navy built and used this part of Antigua as a base during the 1700s and 1800s. The Dockyard is named for Horatio Nelson, who was once the local commander. Restorations began in the early 1930s, and today, you can enjoy the Dockyard as a National Park attraction. The Admiral's Inn and the Copper & Lumber Store both offer hotel rooms as well as dining, or you can sit at the outdoor bar and eatery within a stone's throw of the marina slips where your charter yacht can anchor.
