The news this morning out of management agency Edmiston and Company is that the 178-foot Alloy sailing yacht Tiara, whose master stateroom is shown above, is now being marketed as "the most well-appointed dive yacht on the market." I'm not sure that's true among all yachts for charter, but certainly, it is unusual to see a sailing yacht of Tiara's caliber seeking to attract scuba enthusiasts. Edmiston tells me that the yacht has teamed with Dive Butler International to provide charter clients personalized, luxury scuba services. According to the Dive Butler website, that's the company's specialty: one-on-one courses, guides, and recreational dive planning. Tiara also has now been outfitted with 10 new sets of dive equipment, plus a Bauer Nitrox compressor. As a PADI-certified diver myself, I can tell you that when I see the words "Nitrox compressor," I know that a yacht's owner and crew are serious about scuba--and that they probably can create underwater experiences for me that other charter yachts cannot. This winter, Tiara will be available for charter in the Caribbean at a lowest weekly base rate of €180,000 for 10 to 12 guests. Any reputable charter broker can tell you more or help you book a week aboard.
