charter yacht AtlanticaI was so busy reporting live from the docks every day last week at the charter yacht show on Antigua that I didn't get a chance to tell you the big news out of the competing show on Sint Maarten: the 135-foot Christensen motoryacht Atlantica won not only not only "Best Service, Ambiance, and Table Setting," but also the prize for "Best in Show."

Truthfully, I'm not at all surprised. When Capt. Roy Hodges e-mailed to tell me the big news, I could not help but smile. The honors are well deserved, based on what I experienced during a few days of cruising in March aboard Atlantica in the British Virgin Islands. This beautifully maintained yacht has long had a roster of repeat clients, thanks to the fun and active style of charter that the crew offer. On the day when I win the lottery, I plan to become one of those repeat clients myself.

One of the things I like most about Atlantica is that Hodges continually works to improve the charter program even beyond its established success. Earlier this year, he ordered a new 37-foot Intrepid tender, just to make sure the existing one didn't get run down before he could replace it for guest use. Hodges also recently completed his first charter with a newly updated crew roster, which is mentioned in the Fleet & Management Company News section of this month's CharterWave eNews.

My sincere kudos to Hodges, his wife (and award-winning yacht chef) Stephanie Hodges, and the entire Atlantica team on their win at the Sint Maarten show. It is truly wonderful to see such a well-deserving yacht get the recognition that it deserves within the charter industry.
