Yacht Carbon Offset logoFraser Yachts Worldwide has formed a partnership with Yacht Carbon Offset that will let charter clients offset the carbon footprint of their private yacht vacations.

"Almost by definition, yacht owners and charterers are passionate about the world’s oceans," said Patrick Coote, marketing director at Fraser Yachts. "We can now offer them the possibility of balancing their enjoyment by offsetting the carbon footprint of their boats. Fraser Yachts is at the leading edge of green yachting and is currently working on a number of innovations with naval architects, engineers, and shipyards.”

The move adds Fraser to the growing list of charter companies that are making carbon offsets a part of their day-to-day business with charter clients. Management houses Camper and Nicholsons International and Burgess Yachts regularly tout their efforts to operate in a carbon-neutral fashion, for instance, while the retail-booking agency Boatbookings offers a button on its website that lets clients purchase carbon credits at the time the charter is booked, for an instant offset.

The Yacht Carbon Offset system that Fraser will employ quantifies the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by any yacht during a charter vacation. An equivalent amount of greenhouse gas savings are then assigned to balance those emissions, through what Yacht Carbon Offset calls "verified green energy projects." The company offers significant detail about how it assesses those projects on this page of its website.

"We are delighted to be working with Fraser Yachts, who have for many months been making individual clients aware of how they can take practical steps to do something about their yacht's carbon footprint," said Mark Robinson, managing director of Yacht Carbon Offset. "We thank Fraser Yachts for bringing this into their regular dialogue with their clients."
