charter yacht MichaelaSunseeker Charters sends word that no fewer than four of the motoryachts in its fleet will be available for charters in Thailand during 2012. That's an unusually high percentage for any crewed-yacht fleet in such an up-and-coming charter destination.

First is the 90-foot Major Affair. which is being offered at a lowest weekly base rate of £37,000. She takes eight guests in four cabins, has four crew, and has a top speed of 25 knots. She was built in 2007 and offers amenities including iPod docking stations, satellite television, and Bose surround sound.

Next is the 73-foot Michaela, whose lowest weekly base rate is £25,000. She is a 73 Manhattan, which is a new model that Sunseeker introduced this past year (see the photograph at right). She also takes eight guests in four cabins, has two crew, and has a top speed of 31 knots. She lso offers iPod docking stations and a Bose surround-sound system.

Third is the 63-foot Maia, whose lowest weekly base rate is £21,000. She also takes eight guests in four cabins, has two crew, and has a top speed of 30 knots. She offers iPod docking stations as well as a 55-inch LCD television in the main salon.

Last but not least is a 50-foot Sunseeker Manhattan that is available for day charters out of Phuket at a base rate of £3,000.

I was last in the Phuket area in 2008, when I was aboard the charter sailing yacht Queen of Andaman. I thought the area was absolutely beautiful and very different-looking from other, more popular yacht charter destinations. The waters were clean and clear, and the beaches were surrounded by spectacular cliffs. The culture was of course also intriguing compared with more developed regions of the world.

Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about these Sunseeker yachts or help you book a week onboard during 2012 in Thailand.
