We're starting to creep up on the time of year when charter yachts move from their summer base to their winter destination. In the case of the 62-foot Dynamique sailing yacht Anahita, that means a move from the West Mediterranean to the Caribbean.

Most charter yachts make such passages with crew only, and a limited crew at that. But Anahita's owner is offering something different, according to management company Nicholson Yachts. The yacht is offering charter guests three different passagemaking itineraries in October and November.

The first option for this autumn is chartering from the South of France to Gibraltar beginning on October 1.

The second option is chartering from Gibraltar to the Canary Islands starting October 20.

The final option is chartering from the Canary Islands across the Atlantic Ocean to Barbados starting on November 1.

The end date for each charter will depend on prevailing winds, the yacht's speed, and other weather factors. There obviously will be fewer, if any, port stops the way there are with regular charters. In this case, the fun of chartering Anahita will come with the adventure of serious passagemaking.

The last time Anahita offered these types of charter options was back in the spring of 2011. Anahita is 2009 build that accommodates six guests in three cabins. She is a 1991 build that was most recently refit in 2009.
