Pandora is a 112-foot motoryacht built by the Italian company Ferretti in 2005. She was one of the first luxury motoryachts of international caliber to enter the Greek charter market, and thus has developed quite a good reputation and following of repeat customers. When I got onboard her in the spring of 2007, she was already fully booked for the coming summer and seeking clients for the summer of 2008.
She’ll no doubt find them, for a few reasons.
For starters, Pandora is being nicely maintained by her crew of six. The rich, dark woodwork throughout the interior positively sparkles, and the exterior spaces—including the spacious sundeck with hot tub, barbecue and full bar—look virtually brand-new.
In addition to the yacht itself, the owner is making significant investments in good crew who continue to raise the level of service onboard to international standards. Chef Yannis “John” Kouteranis, for instance, wowed several reputable charter brokers during this year’s industry-only boat show in Greece with a 15-course luncheon that went far beyond traditional Greek fare. Some of the offerings included swordfish on rosemary skewers, green beef curry, lime rice with coriander and pineapple, and a chocolate and chili terrine. (Look for our exclusive interview with Kouteranis soon in the CharterWave Crew Interviews section.)
Four guest cabins, including the master stateroom, are on the bottom deck, while the VIP cabin is forward on the main deck—and thus has the most privacy and natural light. Two of the bottom-deck guest cabins have twin beds, though each is big enough for an adult to sleep in comfortably. The twin-bed cabin on the boat’s left side also has a bunk-style Pullman berth for an eleventh overnight guest, but it’s only big enough to accommodate a child.
Based on what I saw, I think Pandora is a yacht ideally suited for three couples with four or five children among them. You could do ten adults onboard this yacht, but two of the couples would certainly feel as though they had lesser cabins.
Pandora is part of the Atalanta Golden Yachts fleet. Her weekly base rate is 75,000 euros per week, or about $12,500 per person for 10 guests with 25-percent expenses included.
