Ocean Independence has just welcomed the wave-piercing powercatamaran Spirit to the charter fleet. She’s a 112-footer built by New Zealand Yachts, with itineraries available in Australia, the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
I was recently aboard Spirit on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef for an article that will appear in the September issue of Yachting magazine (look for it on newsstands toward the end of August). Spirit is looking great. She has undergone some serious refit work, and her interior looks even better than it did when I first was aboard about decade ago in New Zealand, right after Spirit was built in 2005.
Spirit accommodates 10 guests in five staterooms, including an upper-deck master with its own outdoor deck. The owner and crew are serious about scuba diving and offshore fishing, and the yacht is outfitted accordingly with gear. Crew are trained in both sports, and local guides and dive instructors can come aboard for charters.
The lowest weekly base rate to charter Spirit is $90,000. Any reputable charter broker can tell you more or help you book a week on board.
