Edmiston says the 162-foot Feadship motoryacht Highlander has dropped her lowest weekly base rate from $150,000 to $100,000, and is offering charter itineraries in the Virgin Islands, the northern Caribbean and–an unusual option–Puerto Rico.
Few charter yachts advertise availability in Puerto Rico, let alone yachts of Highlander‘s size and pedigree. She entered the charter market in 2014 with a great deal of publicity. She originally was built as The Highlander in 1986 for media titan Malcolm Forbes. Highlander is a Jon Bannenberg design that had people agog even before they learned about her guest list, which included movie stars like Robert De Niro and world leaders like Margaret Thatcher. The yacht not only had traditional staterooms and guest areas but also boasted conference rooms for events.
The new owners added 12 feet to Highlander‘s stern, allowing her transom to have a more traditional look with better access to the water. The sundeck also was extended, and the main deck is now focused on guest relaxation. Zero-speed stabilizers were added along with a new sound and video system, and more, to bring the yacht up to date for charter.
Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about Highlander or help you book her in the Virgin Islands, northern Caribbean or Puerto Rico this winter at the incentive base rate of $100,000 per week for 12 guests.
