SWC, Inc - Yacht Charter Business Thrives! PDF Print E-mail

Shannon Webster here with some exciting headline news! Charter business is up at SWC, Inc! Of course, all inquiring customers are expecting the "deal of the century" and ironically enough, many of them are  getting it. Educated and savvy consumers know that the ball is in their court these days and they also know how to play. SWC, Inc wrote several last moment charter contracts for the holiday period and also immediately following. We feel that this is a good sign because several of those contracts were for new business clients. Established clients are also now calling again to inquire on charter plans that they originally initiated months ago.

Whether this is a positive move toward the recovery of the economy or simply a stroke of good luck for us, we are thankful and appreciative for the opportunity to conduct business. SWC, Inc is prepared to endure for the long haul and we plan to come out on top. There are not many small independent operators anymore and there will be fewer when the tide finally turns around. In a boutique yacht charter business like SWC, Inc it is easy to hunker down and wait for things to get better. We are working smarter not harder. During this transitional economic period, we are not idle. Quite the contrary! We recently launched a new 2nd SWC, Inc website© , we are developing new advertising strageies, touching base with all our loyal clients, cleaning up our databases and implementing our annual charter catalog mailings. Captain Dan (my VP) and I even had the opportunity to hold our annual SWC, Inc corporate meeting recently. The welcome opportunity to catch our breath and take some time to discuss something other than boats is nice for an occasional change! However, our focus at SWC, Inc has always been to maintain our client relations to the highest standard and that we strive to do to perfection! Call us and see for yourself!

Antigua Charter Show PDF Print E-mail

"I am here in Antigua at the Antigua Yacht Show. The weather is ideal with blue skies and balmy trade winds gently blowing just enough to caress the tops of the palm trees in English Harbor. The show started 2 days ago and so far it seems very slow. Many popular yachts and their crew are still available for the holidays and each day there are new "Holiday Charter Reductions" in my email Inboxes for www.swc-yachtcharters.com and www.shannonwebster.com. There are crew walking around the Dockyard, Antigua Yacht Club and Falmouth Harbour Marina in hopes of finding work but the chances appear to be very limited. We are holding a Memorial Service tomorrow for Andreas Liveras, the mega-yacht owner who was shot to death in Mumbai, India last week during the terrorist attacks there. Such a tragedy as he was so involved in the yaqchting industry and employed so many crew. We are hopeful that his 2 60m-80m yachts will continue to charter. Well, I am afraid that's it for now. I must get out and hit the docks. I am taking my camera with me today so perhaps I can upload some pictures later to share. Shannon"

"We are an industry of travelers. Who could have thought that we would wake up on Thanksgiving Day in America and be mourning the loss of one of our own people? It certainly put a damper on my day. The yacht industry world was rocked recently by the senseless murder of one of Yachting's most well-known and loved icon's, Andreas Liveras. Andreas was warm, loving and generous, always entertaining and happy to share his wealth with others. I will miss him at our charter shows and his ever present and genuinely "happy to see you smile". He was a truly unique and special man and a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. Andreas had gone to the Taj Mahal Hotel for a meal because he had heard that they had the best curry in Mumbai. Just after being seated they heard the bombings start and hid under the dining room table. Later, after being locked in a room with around 1000 other people, he was able to call his family and BBC news in London on his cell phone. "Good morning! It is a brisk day in north Florida without a cloud in the sky. I love it up here as it is so invigorating and close to nature! I wanted to share my new website with everyone. There are still a few pages that need work but since my webmaster has been hounding me for the past month to get this site up and running, I agreed to go ahead and take it live. I welcome you to take a look and let me know what you think. You can find the new website by going to www.swc-yachtcharters.com. Although, my previous site is over 5 years old, it has brought me good results so I am not replacing it, simply adding another site. You can still view it at www.shannonwebster.com. I would appreciate all feedback and constructive criticism on the new site. Thanks for reading and have a great weekend. Follow your dreams as life is short!! Shannon"

"Well, I just received an email from Show Management the company that organizes most of the major boat shows all over the country. They stated that this years show was within 4% of what last years attendance was. There must have been a lot of people there on Sunday because honestly, I just did not see it! However, they are the ones spending the big bucks to do the surveys so who am I to argue with statistics? You can log onto their newsletter and read more to determine for yourself. I did speak to a sales broker yesterday and she reported that her firm had 2 deals in the works from it."
