This is the 68-foot Maiora motoryacht Wil Power, which is managed by Paradise Yacht Charters, one of our sponsors here on CharterWave. I've been hearing a ton about this yacht for more than a year, ever since company President Rebecca Riley spent some time aboard in the Grenadines and came back with a glowing review. Now comes word that Wil Power is moving into the Northern Caribbean, a far more popular charter destination where brokers and media like me will have a chance to see the yacht for ourselves. We'll also have a chance to meet the new two-person crew, comprised of Capt. Rainy Venter (is that a great boat name, or what?) and chef Beatrix Fuzesi. Venter is a South African native whose background includes working as a professional lifeguard and training for advanced sea survival, skills that no doubt were important as he completed two transatlantic crossings as well as sailing in the Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean Sea, and Indian Ocean. He holds a 200-ton captain's license and brings a love of fishing, scuba diving, and surfing to the job. Fuzesi is a native of Hungary who has spent the past five years as a deckhand, stewardess, and chief stewardess aboard yachts. She, too, is a scuba diver, and she has a passion for sailing. I look forward to sampling Fuzesi's cooking and telling you more about Wil Power after I have had a chance to tour the boat in person, which should be in early December at the industry-only charter yacht show on Antigua. Until then, you can get more details from any reputable charter broker. Wil Power's weekly base rate is $23,000 for six guests.
